Anthony Bayer, 26, de Queensland, Austrália, também tenta esquecer tudo o que viveu no ensino médio, porque, sendo um jovem gordinho, as piadas eram diárias. Anthony lembra como se sentiu humilhado quando convidou a menina popular da escola para o baile e ela o rejeitou no último minuto, fechando a porta no rosto no dia em que foi buscá-la.
Ele estava acostumado aos apelidos e constantes ‘brincadeiras’ de seus companheiros, mas essa situação em particular o deixou com o coração partido. Bayer, que naquela época pesava 157 quilos, não estava feliz com ele mesmo quando a garota em questão não concordou em ir ao baile com ele, então ele se esforçou para impressioná-la.
Segundo Bayer, ele acreditava que a garota o rejeitaria assim que ele a convidasse. “Gostei muito de uma garota da minha escola. Ela era muito popular e todos os meninos achavam que ela a mais bonita da nossa série. Eu também achava ela linda, e eu devia estar louco quando decidi convidá-la para dançar. Era meu último ano de escola, então pensei ‘por que não?’ E eu fiz isso.”
“Eu estava prevendo que ele iria me rejeitar imediatamente e rir de mim. Mas, surpreendentemente, ele disse que sim e eu não podia acreditar. Fiquei muito animado com a dança, comprei um terno novo e aluguei uma limusine. ”
Infelizmente, a emoção durou pouco, uma vez que a garota apenas disse sim para fazer uma piada cruel: “Eu queria impressioná-la. Cheguei muito nervoso à casa dela, caminhei até a porta e toquei a campainha. Ela abriu e disse apenas que não iria mais e fechou a porta na minha cara. Meu coração se partiu em mil pedaços. Voltei ao carro chorando. Então me acalmei e pensei: bem, eu já tenho o traje, então irei sozinho ao baile.”
Depois disso resolvi perder peso e cuidar mais de minha aparência, e a menina que um dia me desprezou por ser gordinho me chama para ser sua namorada.
