Estudantes criam veículo para cadeirantes irem à praia
Estudantes do Instituto Federal do Rio Grande do Norte criaram um veículo adaptado para levar cadeirantes à praia. A ideia surgiu depois que eles souberam das dificuldades de um cadeirante da cidade de Natal para ir à praia.
O projeto do estudante Iago Souza ganhou o apoio da colega Maraysa Araújo e dos docentes Artur Salgado e João Teixeira.
A experiência do Crab foi apresentada em eventos no Brasil e no exterior e recebeu prêmios, na Feira Brasileira de Ciências e Engenharia, em São Paulo, e na Mostra Internacional de Ciência e Tecnologia, no Rio Grande do Sul.
A invenção ainda levou o primeiro lugar na Infomatrix, feira realizada no México.
O veículo é bem diferente das cadeiras de rodas convencionais, sem aquelas rodas finas que logo afundam na areia.
Como
Ele tem seis rodinhas largas com um sistema de tração e o batizaram de Crab, palavra em inglês que significa caranguejo, numa referência à habilidade do animal de andar na areia.
A cadeira de rodas sobe na plataforma do Crab por uma rampa e é possível “dirigir” o veículo usando um controle remoto.
O primeiro protótipo em escala real foi produzido e, duas vezes por ano, faz demonstrações na orla de Natal para levar cadeirantes até a faixa de areia próxima ao mar.
O Crab tem capacidade para transportar uma cadeira de até oitenta quilos. A bateria é alimentada por energia solar e chega a durar sete horas.
Autonomia
Um dos idealizadores do projeto de acessibilidade, o diretor de Inovação Tecnológica do campus Natal-Zona Norte do Instituto Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, João Teixeira, diz que o grande mérito do Crab é devolver a autonomia para quem tem dificuldade de locomoção.
“Demonstra a expansão do mundo dos cadeirantes. Eles têm dificuldade de locomoção, de ter acesso a lugares, algo que deveria ser um direito garantido. É necessário que haja políticas públicas que possibilitem levá-los a lugares onde há dificuldade de acesso, como é o caso da praia”, disse Teixeira.
O garoto João Gabriel Andrade, de 8 anos, participou do projeto desde o início e já foi à praia duas vezes usando o Crab.
A mãe, Juliana Andrade de Castro, conta que o filho ficou encantado.
“O projeto é fantástico. O carro ajudou, porque são os pés dele. Para ele foi maravilhoso e, pra mim, mais ainda. Ele inclusive conseguiu controlar o carro, então ficou encantado”, relatou.
A experiência foi muito diferente de outro passeio que eles fizeram à praia, que terminou com os pais carregando o menino e a cadeira de rodas.
“Tentei uma vez e quase morro. Andei dois metros e tivemos que colocar a cadeira num braço e ele no outro. É impossível andar com a cadeira na areia fofa”, disse. Para ela, o ideal é que um número maior de crianças, também de outros estados, pudesse ter acesso ao Crab.
Futuro
A meta agora é expandir a iniciativa e levar o Crab a outras praias do País.
O diretor João Teixeira conta que a equipe vai buscar parcerias ou mesmo transferir tecnologia para que mais unidades do veículo sejam produzidas.
“Esperamos ter o apoio de instituições, do governo, para que a gente possa desenvolver esse veículo em maior quantidade e disponibilizar nas praias do Brasil”, explicou.
